Too Honest

I took for granted that honesty meant
Complete Honesty
I stupidly told you everything
Everything that would hurt you

Tear you up
And spit you out.
Careless with the love you gave me
Flippant with the trust you bestowed
Thoughtless about how I carried you
Insensitive about the hurt words could hold
I didn’t deserve you
And my punishment shall be
Knowing I had you
And it was I, who
Took you from me.

  1. This is what I love about your work: elegance and depth. This is reflective and honest, despite its length. The last four lines will be stuck in my head for a while! Powerful stuff!
